Agenda for the next Pope
Not everyone was enthusiastic about the late Pope's stance on such issues as contraception and women in the priesthood. Sister Lavinia Byrne of the Institute of the Blessed Virgin Mary, and author of Woman at the Altar (she was required to sign a document repudiating the book) thinks he and the three Popes before him have bequeathed some huge challenges for the next one. Of course, John Paul II appointed most of the cardinals who will elect his successor, so the odds in favour of a more liberal papacy are not good. From BBC Radio 4's Broadcasting House.
